September 29 marks the release of my newest book, Nugget on the Flight Deck — a fun adventure that soars with real military jargon and facts about life aboard an aircraft carrier.
While new books always chart new territory in terms of my research and writing, this book tested my technological skills because I knew I wanted to create a video book trailer. After an apprenticeship with Windows Movie Maker, securing permissions from the U.S. Navy (no easy task), and narration challenges, I finally posted the trailer to my website.
But that makes the process sound dull because it was anyting but! When I realized I did not posses the correct equipment to record the trailer’s narration, I appealed to my talented illustrator, Aaron Zenz. He narrated the video and my panel of trusted critiquers remarked that a young voice would add just the right amount of fun. Aaron then appealed to his two children, ages 10 and 9. The results are below.I loved both trailers so much that I promised the children I would use their talents alternately. I would love to hear your votes!
